After having worked in the bay area for almost 20 years, we came to a realization that the only way to offer excellent patient care and communication was to start our own hospital. We started from the ground up and built this hospital with the patients and their people in mind. Our combined experience has taught us what we value and what we would like to avoid. Our goal is to bring new ideas and technology while utilizing tried and true practices .

We pride ourselves on being a private and locally owned business. Our newly built hospital offers the latest technology and is a one stop location for all your pets’ needs. We’re happy to help care for your four-legged family members by offering well or sick pet exams, geriatric care, surgery, dentistry, or alternative / complementary medicine.

We know that coming into a veterinary hospital can be stressful for your pets. We therefore adhere to fear and stress reducing methods to provide you and your pet with a more comfortable experience.

  • Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a millennia-old holistic healing system. It employs various diagnostic systems to identify the patterns of imbalance and applies treatment principles accordingly.

How quickly and fully the patient will respond to TCM depends on several factors including the nature and severity of the disorder and how long it has existed. Age and constitution are other factors that determine the appropriate treatment plan and the rate of response.  Improving and maintaining your pets quality of life is always the main focus of all treatments.

  • Simply put, acupuncture is the insertion of very thin sterile disposable needles through the skin at specific points on the body.  Acupuncture needles are solid and very flexible.

An acupuncturist can stimulate the needles either manually or through the  application of small electrical currents. Some forms of acupuncture can involve injecting a very small amount of sterile liquid such as vitamin B12.

Each animal is unique and so an individualized treatment plan is prioritized.

The acupuncture treatment is still having an effect for a good two hours after the needles are removed. It is most beneficial to allow your animal to rest after the treatment. In most cases normal activity can resume 6 to 12 hours after treatment.

It is not uncommon for your animal to seem a little more sore or tired immediately after the treatment. They are absorbing the physiological changes of the treatment. This response rarely lasts more than 24 hours.

Acupuncture is both complimentary and supportive to traditional Western medicine and can treat a wide range of symptoms and diseases including but not limited to:

    • Musculoskeletal: osteoarthritis/degenerative joint disease, spondylosis, soft tissue injury, chronic tendon/ligament degeneration

    • Gastrointestinal: Intestinal Bowel Disease, nausea and vomiting, esophagitis, intestinal motility issues, constipation/diarrhea, nausea/vomiting

    • Neurological: intervertebral disc disease type I and type II, degenerative myelopathy, old dog vestibular syndrome, facial paralysis, seizures, Horner’s syndrome, laryngeal paralysis

    • Renal and Urogenital: chronic renal disease, cystitis, incontinence, bladder stones

    • Respiratory: asthma, allergies, sinusitis, bronchitis, collapsing trachea

    • Endocrine Disorders: Cushing's disease, Addison’s disease, hypo and hyperthyroid.

    • Eye, ear, nose and throat disorders: allergic otitis, dry eye, chronic sinusitis, feline URI, herpes

    • Supportive therapy for cancer

Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can also help minimize the need for medications with long term side effects.

  • Herbal medicine is one of the great strengths of TCM and remains a central part of its practice. There are thousands of individual herbs including plants, minerals, and even some insects. Classic formulas have been used for thousands of years and can be combined and modified according to the animals unique presenting pattern and symptoms.  Customized formulas for your pet may be called in to a Chinese Herbal Pharmacy.

In most cases , the herbs and/or supplements in combination with regular acupuncture treatments will work synergistically to help improve your animal’s quality of life.

We only use carefully chosen herbs and supplements from companies that meet very high quality control standards.

  • Microcurrent therapy may be used when appropriate to decrease pain and inflammation, encourage faster healing, and discourage fibrosis.

Microcurrent therapy is the use of extremely small pulsating currents of electricity to promote healing and tissue repair. These currents are finely tuned to the level of the normal electrical exchanges which take place at the body’s cellular level.

Microcurrent has been proven to increase the production of ATP by 500% which increases cell metabolism, increases healing time, and encourages the elimination of cellular waste products.

  • Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or cold laser therapy for dogs and cats is a non-invasive treatment that uses focused light to stimulate cellular regeneration, reduce inflammation, and accelerate healing. It can effectively treat arthritis, joint pain, soft tissue injuries (both acute and chronic), and post-surgical recovery. Treatments typically last 5–15 minutes per session, with no sedation required.

Key Benefits & Uses for Dogs and Cats:

    • Pain Reduction: Decreases inflammation, boosts endorphins, and reduces swelling, which alleviates chronic and acute pain.

    • Faster Healing: Promotes tissue regeneration and boosts blood circulation to injuries.

    • Common Applications: Arthritis, hip dysplasia, back pain

    • A safe, drug-free alternative or complement to traditional medicine.

    How It Works:

The therapy uses specific light wavelengths (visible red to infrared) to stimulate mitochondria within cells, enhancing their energy output and speeding up the natural repair process. The procedure is non-invasive and often relaxing for the dog or cat with no need to shave fur.
